In fact with just the stroke of a few products, you can achieve a completely different look everyday. Cakewalk Beauty believes that everyone should be able to achieve their beauty goals with ease. We want beauty to be a piece of cake, so we have created the ultimate beauty cheat sheet. The ultimate beauty cheat sheet is your guide to applying makeup like a professional makeup artist.

Step 1: Apply Primer

What is primer? Primer  works as a moisturizer that fills in the pores, blurs our blemishes, and gives smoothness to the skin. Primer protects the skin by acting as the base which gives the makeup something to hold onto. Primers come in silky cream and gel form.

Primers come in many different forms such as “hydrating,” “soothing,” or “replenishing.” Depending on what kind of skin you have, primer can help to give you a flawless look. Mattifying primers are ideal if you have oily skin because the primer will combat excess oil and shine.

Step 2: Apply a Foundation

What is foundation? Foundation is a base that comes in liquid or powder form and applied to the face to create an even skin complexion and cover flaws and blemishes. There are many different kinds of foundation including:

  • Liquid Foundation
  • Cream Foundation
  • Cream to Powder Foundation
  • Pressed Powder Foundation
  • Mineral Powder Foundation
  • Cushion Type Foundation

Liquid foundations come in two different forms: oil-based and water-based. Liquid foundations is the the main choice foundation for people with dry skin. It is ideal for makeup beginners. There are a variety of sponges and brushes available to apply liquid foundation. Depending on the occasion, its ideal to wear light coverage in the day for a more natural look and medium to heavy at night to achieve a glam look.

However, some liquid foundations that have full coverage tend to clog the pores, and can cause breakouts and blackheads. Be careful when wearing your make up for long hours, sometimes liquid foundation can appear patchy. Make sure to use make up remover pads available for purchase at our online store.

To begin lightly dip your beauty brush or sponge into the foundation. Then gently place the foundation around your face, blending it, and make sure to move from the center of your face outward.

Step 3: Apply a Concealer

What is concealer? Concealer is a color corrector that is used to cover dark circles, age spots, large pores, and blemishes on the skin. It's heavier than foundation. To apply concealer place it underneath the eyes and around the blemishes.

It's ideal to apply concealer that is a shade or two lighter than your skin tone. Don't go too light or too dark. For under-eye circles, apply concealer first, then foundation. For blemishes and pimple coverage, apply foundation first then concealer.

Step 4: Setting Foundation

What is setting powder? Setting powder is a product that prevents makeup from rubbing off and reduces shine for a long-lasting, flawless complexion. Its available in two forms, loose and pressed, they can also be translucent or slightly tinted to match your skin tone.

To set your foundation, use a big fluffy brush and a loose setting powder, making sure to tap off the excess, gently swirl the powder over just the areas that tend to get shiny and oily throughout the day like your forehead and nose, this is known as the T-zone. Let your foundation set for 3-5 minutes.

Step 5: Enhance your eyes with Eye Makeup

To enhance your eyes, you will need:

  • A medium eyeshadow brush
  • A pencil brush
  • A primer
  • An eyeshadow palette
  • An eyeliner
  • Mascara

To begin place a little primer on your eyelids using your fingers. You can also use a Q-tip, brush or even your fingers. Choose a neutral color then using an eyeshadow brush, apply the second-lightest color to the entire eyelid up to the crease.

Now use the second darkest color to contour your crease, begin from the inner side of the eye using a thin line gradually making it thicker as you move to the outer side of the crease. Then using a windshield wiper motion on your crease to blend the color.

Then dip your angled brush in your dark shade and to define the outer corner of your crease, make a V-shape from the lash line to the outer crease.

To highlight your eyes, take the lightest color in your palette and apply it along your brow bone just below the arch of your eyebrow for a lifted look. Now blend it well.

    Step 7: Use a blush

Blush is a cosmetic for coloring the cheeks in varying shades, or the lips red. It is applied as a powder or cream. Sweep your blush from the ear down the cheekbone towards the mouth. Add a little touch of blush to the chin and blend it well to make your face appear longer. Oblong/long faces - Apply blush on cheekbones below the outer corners of the eyes and blend well. Be sure the blush never extends lower than the tip of the nose.

    Step 8: Define your lips

To define your lips start by using a lip liner, starting at the outer corner of the upper lip and etch inwards toward the Cupid's Bow. Repeat on the bottom lip. Use a lip brush (or your ring finger) to blend and soften the pencil inward and onto the lip itself. Then apply lip color of your choice. They are different kinds of lip color including:

    • Tinted Lip Balm
    • Lip Gloss
    • Sheer Lipstick
    • Semi-matte Lipstick
    • Cream Lipstick
    • Matte Lipstick
    • Lip Satin
    • Lip Liner

Start at the outer corner of the lip and work toward the center. Then using a lip brush blend the liner and lipstick together. To combat dry lips make sure you hydrate before bed and throughout the day.

For healthy, beautiful lips make sure to exfoliate at least 3 times per week. To exfoliate, use a small amount of lip scrub and gently scrub the lips in a circular motion. Then use a warm washcloth to wash the area. For best results use moisturizer and lip balm before bed.

    9. Lashes

    1. After completing your eyeshadow and eyeliner application of choice, curl your lashes and apply mascara.
    2. Adjust lash strip to make sure the length match your eyes.
    3. Then apply eyelash glue to the eyelash strip.
    4. Wait for the glue to dry slightly becoming tacky.
    5. Place the strip to your lash line and glue it into place.
    6. Apply black eyeliner to hide the lash strip.
